Maxwell Blessing is the central figure in the most incredible account that I have ever read. I have never met the man. Everything I know about him, I learned from a detailed journal, which I discovered six years ago in the attic of my 250 year-old house. I have had his writings published in book form under the title, In the Time of Worms.
I have been unable to discover more than a few facts about Max Blessing's life. He was born in Rhode Island during the mid 1950's. He was an only child and his upbringing appears to have been unremarkable. Upon graduating from high school in 1972, he went off to college on the West Coast and earned a master’s degree in psychology. He came back east in 1978, and set up a private practice in Boston. It was from his own writings that I learned he made a final move to Marblehead, MA, the town in which I live. Shortly thereafter, he disappeared, as have all records of his tenure in Massachusetts. I have been unable to determine why.
